LEASING LAND FOR SOLAR DEVELOPMENT
LEASING
FINANCIAL OPPERTUNITY
Renewable energy projects start with a feasible location. Regen commits a majority of its time looking for these locations and working with landowners to establish a fair relationship that generates long term revenues for all parties involved. While the process involves many steps and requires many stakeholders, a landowner could expect the following experience when evaluating a land lease for renewable energy development:
Land Discovery
This is the first step to evaluate if a project may be feasible on your property. Regen will look at the proximity to infrastructure, slope & soil data, irradiance potential, and other data to qualify a project.
Capacity Exploration (LOI)
If a project looks feasible from the Regen desk, we will look to enter into an LOI with the landowner in order to begin our exploration with the utility. During this time Regen will learn about hosting capacities of the infrastructure to determine if a project is viable to the utility.
Project Study Period (Option To Lease)
Once the pre-application process has been completed with the utility and Regen has gained further insight into feasibility of the project, Regen will offer the landowner and option to lease agreement that will grant Regen site control of the designated site for up to 3 years, while we works through the permitting process with the utility. During this option period, Regen begins to compensate the landowner for the determined acreage.
LAND IMPACT
DEVELOPMENT IMPACT
By the time a project is permitted and shovel ready, Regen will have engaged in co-development agreement with 1 of 10 of its development partners. These partners are some of the largest developers and independent power producers in the globe. Regen develops smaller projects when the opportunity presents itself, however we have found great success working with the larger players in the industry. This normally gives comfort to landowners.
Once a project is permitted and construction is ready to begin, Regen and its co-development partners will execute their option to lease the land. This lease will compensate landowners for 20-40 years with passive revenue.
BARRIER TO ENTERY
MINIMAL QUALIFYING CRITERIEA
While Regen is heavily involved with the origination of projects, there are times that projects fit Regen's investment appetite. In these scenarios Regen would invest in and oversee the construction of the project and once the project is complete, Regen will operate and mange the system for the lifetime of the lease.
